1. Cedar Point Shores Waterpark (Sandusky)

Located on the shore of Lake Erie and Cedar Point beach, this 18-acre water park boasts more than a dozen water attractions perfect for a family getaway! But the best part of it all is the extra activities you available in the near proximity of the park, such as rollercoasters, shows, kayaking, and many others.

You don’t want to miss the Storm Surge, a 76-foot-tall family raft ride, and the Point Plummet, a tall slide tower with four enclosed speed slides. Adrenaline junkies, Cedars Point Shores awaits!

The little ones will also have some fun at Cedar Point. There is a kiddie pool designed specifically for them, as well as a kid-friendly playground structure with a tire swing, slides, gadgets, geysers, and spray jets. enough to keep your kids entertained for hours. 

Also, other attractions of the Cedar Point Shores include a lazy river, a large half-million-gallon wave pool, and an action river. Not so thrilling like the slides, but still these attractions offer you a fair share of fun!

Who said water parks have to be a full day of hustle? With private cabanas available on-site, you can get some rest amid all this frenzy. There are 4 types of cabanas to choose from – standard, bronze, silver, and gold – which differ by their amenities and capacity. 2. Soak City Water Park (Kings Island)

Par of Kings Island, Soak City Water Park includes a mind-blowing total of 36 water slides and many other family attractions! We’re not sure a day will be enough to try them all, but if you really want to make it happen, finding accommodation nearby won’t be a problem either. With Soak City everything runs smoothly. Quite impressive, right?

With a total of 36 water slides, Soak City must be one of the best water parks in Ohio. 

Family attractions include several body and tube slides, as well as exciting raft rides you can share with your loved ones. There is also a mat racer for the most competitive families or a lazy river for those who prefer to chill. 

Two family-friendly wave pools can be found at the park, but if you prefer to ride a wave properly, try the Pipeline Paradise surfing simulator and take your skills to another level. 

Kids can enjoy an interactive multi-level water playground with a giant tipping bucket and three slides, as well as 2 kiddie pools designed specifically for them. 

THINGS TO DO IN Soak City Water Park

At Kings Island, you can try 15 different rollercoasters, and plenty of family rides, including bumper cars, carousels, and many others. Who said you had to give up on these in order to go to a water park? If you choose Soak City, you really can get the best of both worlds!  

Things to know before going to Soak City Water Park

If you’re in for a snack, Soak City offers you 4 dining options you can choose from: the Island Smokehouse, Coconut Cove Cafe & Bar, and Calypso Coolers. Here you can find everything from refreshing drinks and desserts to snacks and full meals. Also, don’t worry if you have to follow a special meal plan, vegan and gluten-free options are available in the park. 

Stay out of the sun and book one of the poolside cabanas near Breakers Bay or Tidal Wave Bay. With a capacity of up to 8 people, these cabanas offer you a shaded area with tables, chairs, and loungers. If you purchase a premium cabana, you also get a mini-fridge, a flat-screen TV, and poolside service.  

If you wish to extend your stay, you can find lodging nearby at Kings Island Camp Cedar or one of the preferred hotels you can check on their website. 

3. Zoombezi Bay (Columbus)

A variety of thrill slides and family attractions at the Zoombezi Bay will be more than enough to keep you entertained for a full day! Its offer isn’t focused exclusively on kids, adults can also enjoy their time off-parent duty sipping drinks in a pool.  Sounds  great, doesn’t it?


With 17 water slides, this outdoor water park in Ohio offers fun for everyone! Mat racers, body and tube slides, all await for you to try them! Our favorites are the Cyclone, the Sea Tubes, the Sea Snakes, and the Python Plunge, which will give you the best adrenaline rush ever!

Kids can enjoy the Baboon Lagoon, a multi-level play structure with 10 water slides, a net climb, an activity pool, and a tipping water bucket on top. Also, there’s the Tiny Tides attraction, a heated-water playground with 12 marine animal play structures, designed specifically for the little ones. 

Family rides include a wave pool, an action river, and a lazy river, where you can either catch some waves or float in your tube while soaking up the sun. Both options sound great

THINGS TO DO IN Zoombezi Bay

Plenty of food choices is available at Zoombezi Bay. For proper meals, we recommend the Surfside Grill, Harvest Pizzeria, or Big Island Tenders & Wings. You can also find several snack bars, an ice cream stand, and an adults-only swim-up bar in a heated lounge pool with in-water seating.  Floating on a tube and sipping on cocktails? Our answer is yes, you really need it!

If you forget to bring your slippers, swimsuit, or sunscreen, there is a surf shop on-site with all this and more to offer you! 

Things to know before going to Zoombezi Bay

Zoombezi Bay features a total of 42 poolside cabanas located throughout the park. There are 4 types of cabanas available for rent: party, deluxe, standard, and value cabanas. Each type includes different amenities, so make sure to check their website or ask on-site. We strongly encourage you to reserve your cabana online prior to the day of your visit, to avoid the risk of them being sold out.

If you don’t want to spend precious time waiting in line for your favourite attraction, the ZOOMPASS is for you! With this virtual ride reservation system, which holds your place in line electronically, you will receive an alert to your band when it’s your turn to slide. You can purchase a Gold, Platinum, or Diamond ZOOMPASS, so make sure to check what each of them includes and pick the one that is best for you and your budget.

4. The Beach Waterpark (Mason)

Another water park in Ohio thats perfect for your next family outing, this one situated in Cincinnati, is the 35-acre Beach Waterpark. With water slides, lush ambiance, swimming lessons, and even a zip line, the Beach will provide you with an unforgettable experience you don’t want to miss!

Different body and tube slides, as well as raft rides and activity pools, await for you to try them all! We highly recommend the Riptide Racer, a 4-lane head-first racing slide suitable for single and competitive riders.  There is also a wave pool and 2 whitewater adventures you can experience with your whole family or friends. The activity pool of the park is perfect for water basketball lovers since it features several hoops on each side of the pool. 

At the Beach, you can also find a huge aquatic playground with slides for kids and a toddler play area with sprayers, fountains, and geysers.  

Chill attractions of the park include a lazy river and a spa pool with waterfalls and lush palm trees. 

THINGS TO DO IN The Beach Waterpark

Water slides are always the main focus of water park goers, but the Beach offers much more than that!

Families can enjoy a zip line above the wave pool, live music, and an indoor family arcade. This water park was made having everyone’s best interests in mind!

However, if you don’t want to skip your daily workout, there is a sand volleyball court too, where you can challenge your family or friends for a little healthy competition. Who doesn’t like to lay in the sand, even if it’s just for a moment! 

Things to know before going to The Beach Waterpark

For a more exclusive experience, rent one of the poolside cabanas and stay out of the sun whenever you need it!

If you really want it, we recommend making a reservation as a guarantee. Do not wait for the cabanas to sell out only to regret not thinking about it earlier!

You have 2 types of cabanas to choose from, the Shoreline Cabanas and the Deluxe Cabanas. They both include a shaded area, table with chairs, lounge chairs, a VIP wait service, and complimentary bottled waters.

When it comes to admission tickets, there are several options available for purchase. Go to their website to check them out and have in mind that children ages 3 and under can enter with a paying adult for free. 

5. Sunlite Water Adventure (Cincinnati)

Continuing the list of outdoor water parks in Ohio, the Sunlite Water Adventure, you can find all the amenities you need for a family vacation with kids! Beautiful Caribbean décor, tiki bar, water slides, and different pools are just some of the things you’ll enjoy during your stay. Sunlite Water Adventure is home to The Challenge Zone, the nation’s largest Aquaglide pool obstacle course with balance beams, climbing obstacles, monkey bars, and more! Put your skills to the test and upgrade your level of fitness, running behind your kids will definitely have these results. 

Among other attractions, here you can enjoy the nation’s largest recirculating pool and erupting hydro storm, 73 interactive play stations of the Typhoon Tower, as well as slide down one of their 130-foot waterslides. Options for having fun are endless!

Family attractions of the Sunlite park include an Action Alley with fun activities, such as foam parties, gaga pit, arts and crafts, games, and more! Also, you can enjoy a  paddleboat ride around Lake Como or play mini-golf with your family. 

Things to know before going to Sunlite Water Adventure

As a general rule, outside food and drinks are not allowed in the park, but you can buy something to eat on-site. There are 3 bars and cafés that serve sandwiches, burgers, chicken wings and drinks. One less problem to think about!

6. The Watering Hole at Monsoon Lagoon (port Clinton)

Looking for a fun and affordable outdoor water park in Ohio for your family adventure? The Watering Hole Water Park is a perfect choice for all kinds of visitors and budgets. Do not hesitate and make a pit stop at this water  park on your family trip!

For those who like to take their adrenaline to a new level, there is  a 3-story Typhoon Rush Slide Tower which leads you directly into the pool. 

You kids will enjoy the Kid’s Tree House, a huge multi-level play area with 4 slides, sprayers and a dumping bucket, that sprinkles water all over the attraction.

When buying your ticket, make sure to be informed on the weather conditions for the day of your visit, given that the Watering Hole Water Park issues no rain checks. Also, bear in mind that kids under 2 do not require an admission ticket, they can use the facility for free. 

If hunger kicks in, visit the on-site concession stand and get some  pizza, burgers, drinks, and more! There is also a swim-up tiki bar where you can sip on cocktails and baby cocktails to brighten up your day.

7. Pioneer Waterland & Dry Fun Park (Chardon)

Looking for a good waterpark in Ohio that offers a bit of everything? Then the Pioneer Waterland & Dry Fun Park is the perfect outdoor water park for you! This Chardon water park has something for everyone.

The waterpark welcomes visitors of all ages and offers entertainment around the clock! 

For thrill-seekers, there are 4 six-story-high waterslides, as well as a lazy innertube ride, to keep your adrenaline in balance.

When the water park no longer amuses you, there are plenty of family-friendly choices at the Pioneer Waterland & Dry Fun Park!

At the waterpark, your family can also enjoy a paddleboat activity on a six-acre natural lake, as well as a double gorilla slide for the little ones. 

The Kidsland features a pelican slide, an adventure island, a tot-land play area, and much more! By purchasing an Activity Admission, you get free access to the Waterpark, the Kidsland, and the Sportsland Fun Area. This can only mean one thing: endless hours of fun await you! 

Unlike other water parks in the area, at this Ohio water park guests are allowed to bring outside food and beverages (except alcohol). Also, guests can use one of the grills located throughout the water park, they just have to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. If you don’t want to spend your afternoon cooking, you can always buy food at the  Splash Landing Eatery located on-site. 

If you want to extend your stay, this Ohio family park provides accommodation a camping on-site. The camping rates include tents and campers, so you can choose which option suits best your needs! 

8. CLAY'S PARK RESORT (N. Lawrence)

Clay’s Park Resort is a family oasis for outdoor enthusiasts, making it the ideal outdoor water park in Ohio for a good old fashioned family vacation. It offers both water and dry activities, a perfect mix of thrill and chill attractions, as versatile as you can imagine. Do not hesitate to put this park on your list, you won’t regret it!

9. Water Works Park (CUYAHOGA FALLS)

This family water park is an excellent choice for families with younger children. Water Works features both wet and dry play areas, a lazy river, and 4 water slides, more than enough to keep you entertained without being too extreme for your kids!

This simple family park features four water slides, an enclosed tube slide, an open body slide, and two tube slides. 

For younger children, this park offers an extensive spray pool area with a frog slide and plenty of different sprayers.

There is also a 560-foot lazy river meandering through the water park and a 6-lane lap pool with a zero-depth edge

THINGS TO DO IN Water Works Park

If your kids get tired of the aquatic attractions available on-site, take them to the sand play area where they can socialize with other children, build sandcastles, and enjoy their playtime. 

However, when hunger kicks in, there is no need to worry. There are concession stands where you can buy food and drinks, or you can bring your own cooler and enjoy homemade meals. The water park counts with several picnic tables and grills you can use for a family gathering or lunch. 


Things to know before going to Water Works Park

To keep your group together, we recommend renting a 9×9 poolside cabana. There are 5 different types of cabanas (yellow, green, blue orange and red) available for rental daily. They all feature 4 chairs, 2 chaises, a small table, and prime deck space. Take your stay to the next level and enjoy a more private atmosphere far from the crowd!

10. Splash Zone (Springfield)

Located in Springfield, this premier aquatic facility is everything you need for a family getaway with younger children. With no extreme slides and thrill rides, only a variety of family-friendly attractions, this park will keep you entertained for hours!


Splash Zone is definitely an oasis for lovers of water sports and fun!

Proud owner of Ohio’s first bowl slide, this water park has a total of 400 feet of water slides. Twisting and turning while the water is dragging you into the pool, you’ll feel the adrenaline rush typical for this sort of water park.

There is also a 280-foot lazy river, a zero-depth entry pool, and an aquatic playground with slides and sprayers for the little ones. 

More active visitors can make good use of a competition pool and diving boards available on-site. Plenty of fun for everyone! 


At the Splash Zone, there are few but certainly useful activities available for everyone!

Your kids can enjoy the swimming lessons offered at the facility, while adults can stay active with fitness classes, such as water walking and lap swimming. 

Things to know before going to Splash Zone

This water park offers extensive grass areas you can use for a family picnic or for soaking up the sun rays while your kids play around. You can even bring your own lounge chairs to the park, but do not think this applies to food too. It is strictly prohibited to bring outside food and beverages into the park! 

There are two categories of tickets, one for children ages 4-14, the other for visitors over 14 years old. Children under the age of 4 have free admission to the waterpark!


11. Land Of Illusion (Middletown)

Buy your family ticket for this adventure park and enjoy versatile outdoor activities in Ohio! Water attractions don’t need much of an introduction, but there are several yard games and sports courts you can use for a little family competition. Check it out below!

Land of Illusion’s Wibit Adventure Zone is the only inflatable obstacle course in Southwest Ohio!

Challenge your family members and friends by putting their strength and agility to the test with this complex water playground for all ages. The course consists of rope climbs, banked curves, half pipes, monkey bars, balance beams, and many more fun features. There is also an all-new Kids Wibit Zone where the younger members of your family can enjoy the course on their own. Every day is a good day for a workout!

THINGS TO DO IN Land Of Illusion

Extra activities available at the Land of Illusion include sand volleyball, ping pong, horseshoes, and cornhole! These games will give you a much-needed break from the water park, but they will also be challenging for you and your family members. All these activities are included in your ticket, the only limitation is the number of players playing at one time. 

If you prefer water sports to these classic yard games, opt for paddleboarding in Paddle Bay. Put your balance to the test and enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the bay. 

Things to know before going to Land Of Illusion

By purchasing a ticket, you get unlimited use of the Wibit Adventure Zone, volleyball courts, beach, swimming, and game area. At an extra charge, you can rent a paddleboard, a boat, or Premium Seating. 

If hunger kicks in, you can always grab a bite at the Aqua Lounge. There’s a full bar with food and drinks to buy when you need to refuel during your busy family day.

12. Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center (Marion)

If your not looking for something big and crowded, Lincoln Park  is perfect for you! You will still have a fair share of fun and relaxation, while not being afraid to lose your child in the crowd or spend endless time waiting in lines for attractions. Check it out for yourself!

At this small family water park you won’t find numerous or extreme slides to spike your adrenaline, but there will be more than enough attractions to keep you and your kids entertained!

Lincoln Park counts with two enclosed body slides and a lily pad cargo net walk, ideal for kids who are up for a challenge. 

Also, they will definitely enjoy not one but two aquatic playgrounds designed specifically for them. Both attractions have small slides, but one on them features a giant tipping bucket on top as well.  

THINGS TO DO IN Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center

If you or your kids get tired of the water attractions, you can try the park’s diving boards or the lap pool for a fun workout! 

Doing sports and learning new skills is always a good idea, especially if you’re visiting this family water park.

Apart from all these family attractions, you can chill on your tube in the pools or soak up the sun on the grass areas. Either way, you will have a splendid afternoon.  

Things to know before going to Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center

Since outside food and beverages are not allowed on the property, there is a full service concession stand available on-site. This leaves you with one less problem to focus on, given that we all know kids are always hungry when you least expect it! 

Operating hours may be subject to change in case of bad weather or low attendance. For this reason, we recommend looking up their Facebook webpage for fresh updates!

13. Troy Aquatic Park (Troy)

If you happen to drive through Troy, give this aquatic park a chance! With no extreme slides and busy crowds, the Troy Aquatic Park is just what you need for a relaxing family afternoon. Read more below!

By visiting the Troy Aquatic Park, you’ll have a chance to enjoy a more peaceful and simple water park than usual. With two giant water slides and a drop slide, this park is an ideal choice for families with younger children or those who simply don’t like thrill waterslides. 

Kids have at their disposal a heated baby pool and interactive water playground in a zero-depth pool. 

There is also a zero-depth entrance pool, as well as a diving board for those who like to splish and splash around. 

THINGS TO DO IN Troy Aquatic Park

As is the case with many aquatic parks, the Troy Aquatic Park offers adult hour lap swimming,  swim lessons, and water workouts. Active visitors will find these options especially appealing since parent duty can often result in prioritizing children’s needs over their own. 

Things to know before going to Troy Aquatic Park

For relaxation, this aquatic park features large grassy areas and lounge chairs, where you can sunbathe. But if you prefer to be in the shade, find one of the ten giant Funbrellas which offer you a 20-feet diameter of shade. 

Also, if you get hungry, stop by the  Boogie Board Café available on-site and enjoy snacks, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, and beverages. A perfect way to recover the energy you lost through the day! 

14. Lake Park Aquatic Center (Coshcton)

Family vacations can be quite expensive by default, so looking for cheaper water park options might be necessary. If this is your case, we have something for you! Lake Park is not only very cheap, but it also isn’t that crowded as other mega popular parks. More info below!

WATER SLIDES IN Lake Park Aquatic Center

Lake Park Aquatic Center features two main slides, an enclosed tube slide and an open body slide. Do not expect an extreme adrenaline rush, these slides are more of a moderate or mild thrill level. 

Also, there are two kid-friendly play structures with small water slides that lead you directly into the pool. 

You can also expect a shallow water pool with splash zones, suitable for a little time off parent duty or your child’s play!

THINGS TO DO IN Lake Park Aquatic Center

Water attractions do not challenge you enough? Then challenge yourself with some lap swimming or some water exercises in the pool. The beauty of this waterpark lies in the simple, yet versatile amenities it offers. This way, you can be active, have fun and rest at the same time!

Things to know before going to Lake Park Aquatic Center

At the park, you have several grass areas and lounge chairs perfect for sunbathing, but if the sun gets too intense, go to one of the shaded areas with picnic tables. However, be careful when it comes to bringing your own food on-site, because some water parks allow it and some don’t.

These water parks all have a fair share of water slides and family attractions, but we think they are more kid-friendly than others. Their attractions are extremely versatile and visitors of all ages will find something to keep them amused, which is the most important thing of all!

    Before going to a waterpark of your choice, always check the amenities it includes, and its operating hours since the latter can be subject to change very often.
