This premier Virginia water park features loungers and cabanas perfect for relaxation in the middle of a chaotic adrenaline-filled day! Staying under the sun might be more tiring than running around the park, so make sure to stay cool and find refuge in your private cabana or under the umbrella of your loungers. 

Several ticket options are available for purchase, including combined tickets for both Bush Gardens and Water Country USA. You can also purchase add-ons to your ticket, such as Cabanas or Quick Queue, which gives you unlimited priority access for the whole day of your visit. 

2. Soak City (Doeswell)

Thrill and chills will be the main characteristics of your day visit to the Soak City, a 20-acre water park with slides, pools, and so much more! Apart from the exciting water park, in the area, you can also find the Kings Dominion amusement park and several accommodation options. The fun can last for days!

At Kings Dominion, you can experience all the thrills with attractions such as the Twisted Timbers and Intimidator 305®, as well as enjoy several old-school family rides. 

Feel the rush of different roller coasters, or try one of the kid-friendly attractions, including the Flying Ace Balloon Race, Sally’s Sea Plane, and Great Pumpkin Coaster.

Things to know before going to Soak City

Enjoy your day at the Soak City Water Park and book one of the private poolside cabanas. There are three options available: Dasani Beach Club, Party, and VIP Cabanas, which all differ in terms of capacity and amenities included in the rental. For more info, check out their website!

Apart from your day ticket, you can purchase Fast Lane or FunPix add-ons to upgrade your experience. With Fast Lane, you will save the time you would usually spend queueing, while the FunPix add-on will allow you to take home all the professional digital photos from your visit. 

Soak City offers accommodation in Deluxe Cabins, fully-equipped RV Sites, and tent sites at the official Kings Dominion KOA, located nest to the park. Some of the benefits of staying at this campground are discounts on park admission and a complimentary shuttle service that will take you directly to the park.

3. Ocean Breeze Waterpark (Virginia Beach)

Located just 2 miles south of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, this water park is the perfect pit stop on your family vacation. With such slides, family attractions, and amenities, you can’t go wrong, so make sure to buy your tickets and check it out!

If you’d like to enjoy a more private atmosphere surrounded by just your family members, book one of the poolside cabanas online and make it happen! There are three different cabana rental packages, but all of them include a pavilion with curtained sides, patio-style furniture, chaise lounge chairs, a ceiling fan, and a flat-screen TV.

Time is money. That’s why you should think of getting a Breeze Pass wristband and have the fastest access to three body slides and eight tube slides! Purchase it online, at the ticket window, or at the Island Trader Gift Shop, and save precious time you’d spend queueing! 

4. GREAT WAVES WATERPARK (Fairfax Station)

Make a stop at this Alexandria waterpark and enjoy playing in the water, as well as some other activities at Cameron Run Regional Park. This park has everything you need: water attractions, challenging activities, food, and cabanas. Do not miss it!

With a total of 5 slides, Great Waves Waterpark stands out for having a pair of high-speed slides, two open and one covered waterslide.

Cameron Run abounds with interesting activities for the whole family. You can book swim lessons or practice your swing at the batting cages.

There’s also an 18-holes mini-golf course, as well as the Paradise Play, a colorful beach-themed play structure with triple slides, spiral climbs,  rock wall, spiral slides, mazes, and so much more! If you have children ages 3 to 12, this play structure will provide them hours and hours of entertainment.

Things to know before going to GREAT WAVES WATERPARK

If personal space is important for you, book one of the four cabanas available on-site. With a capacity of 8 guests, these cabanas will provide you shade, deck chairs, and tables. However, due to the very limited number of cabanas available, make sure to make a reservation for a cabana online, prior to the day of your visit. 

5. Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole (Fairfax)

Families with children will enjoy this water park with attractions suitable for all ages. With the Old West’s Gold Rush being the main theme of the waterpark, here you can find attractions decorated with wild animals, covered agons, and ore carts, which guarantee you a splendid family time at the Water Mine!

With more than an acre of slides, flumes, sprays, showers, and floatables, The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole is just what you need for your family trip!

When it comes to slides, we recommend the Big Pete and Little Pete, as well as Prospectors Plummet with 3-story waterslides. 

Kids and toddlers will enjoy Pete’s Peak and Tenderfoot Pond, play areas for children with slides and bubblers. Other interactive play areas include Boomtown, a multi-level water playground with slides and a tot spray pad area, and a more challenging Box Canyon Crossing, a log walk obstacle course that will put their skills to the test. 

Your whole family will love the activity pool with a 725-foot surrounding lazy river, perfect for a relaxing float throughout the park. 

THINGS TO DO IN Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole

Apart from the slides and playgrounds of the park, there are other activities you can try. For example, you can challenge your family to a game of water volleyball in one of the pools located on-site.

If that’s too much for you, just relax in a lounger or visit the food vendors to replenish your energy. A variety of foods can be purchased there. In addition, at  The Water Mine, you’re allowed to bring outside food and beverages into the facility and enjoy a family picnic as a cherry on top.

It is advised to purchase tickets online in advance if you want to secure your spot at the waterpark. Day-of purchases are limited and on busy weekends, the park reaches capacity quickly, which may result in you missing your family fun day. Children ages 2 and under have free admission at  The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole. 

The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole features a variety of rental spaces, which includes private shaded areas for families or small groups, and larger FUNbrellas. However, it is important to mention that the rental purchase doesn’t include general admission tickets, which have to be purchased separately.

6. OCEAN DUNES WATERPARK (Fairfax)

Located within Upton Hill Regional Park, Ocean Dunes features pools, water slides, and splash pads for the whole family. Apart from the water park, there’s a climbing course and a miniature golf course nearby!

 If you’re looking for a fun and simple water park, you’re at the right place!

At the Ocean Dunes Waterpark there are pools, a 500-gallon dumping bucket, water slides, waterfalls, and squirters.

You can also book swim lessons in the park’s lap pool or just enjoy the slides available on-site. However, if you’re traveling with older kids, they might get bored easily. Do not be discouraged, what this waterpark lacks in extreme and thrill slides, compensates in terms of extra activities available next to the property. All this makes the Ocean Dunes Waterpark a full package! 

 

THINGS TO DO IN OCEAN DUNES WATERPARK

Next to the water park, there is Climb UPton, a 90-element vertical adventure with varying levels of difficulty. However, if you want to enjoy this activity, make sure to have comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes with you. 

If you’re afraid of heights, but would still like to try a different activity, there is an 18-hole miniature golf course near the water park. Also, this area includes six baseball cages and three softball cages, with bats and helmets provided for free. 

Things to know before going to OCEAN DUNES WATERPARK

Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the water park, however, you can buy everything you need at the concession stands available on-site. 

Unlike other parks, Ocean Dunes Waterpark requires you to purchase your ticket exclusively on-site, on the day of your visit. Online or advanced tickets aren’t available for visitors, and children under the age of 2 get in or free!

If you plan to visit other parks, think of purchasing an all facility pass and get unlimited use of Waterpark,
Miniature Golf, and Batting Cage. Fun fun fun! 

7. Maui Jack's Waterpark (Chincoteague Island)

Things to know before going to Maui Jack's Waterpark

If you’re visiting the park with a  group of 5 to 8 people, you will feel more comfortable renting one of the poolside cabanas available on-site. Each cabana features a cushioned armchair, love seat, coffee table, end table, and two chaises. A perfect setting to stay out of the sun, even for a short moment. 

There are also 2 accommodation options located near the waterpark. Visit the park’s official website and choose between the Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park RV resort & campground. Each accommodation option comes with discounted or free waterpark day passes, so make sure to explore both deals before purchasing your ticket.

8. VOLCANO ISLAND WATERPARK (Fairfax)

Located within Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling, this island-themed waterpark is a perfect destination for those who do not expect an extreme adrenaline rush on their family fun day. Waterslides, splash pools, and play structures await you at Volcano Island!

Volcano Island Waterpark features a pair of waterslides, a 230-feet open slide, and a thrilling 170-foot enclosed slide. These are perfect to spice up your family day, without having to worry whether your kids will get scared of the thrills.

Daily waterpark tickets must be purchased on-site, on the day of your visit. Make sure to buy yours before the park is at capacity, and bear in mind that children under the age of 2 enjoy free admission.

You’re not allowed to bring outside food and beverages into the waterpark, but you can purchase everything you need at the concession stands located at the Volcano Island Waterpark. 

9. Waterworks Waterpark (Dale City)

Have the time of your life at one of the most popular and fun family aquatic playgrounds in Northern Virginia. This simple yet fascinating water park welcomes visitors of all ages but suits best families with younger children who do not wish to take their fun day to the extreme.

Waterworks Waterpark features a small tower with a pair of kid-friendly slides, one of an enclosed type and the other open. Both slides will take you directly into the huge swimming pool, so make sure to be prepared for a surprising plunge!

Not a fan of slides? No problem, for those who like to have fun in a different way, the Waterworks Waterpark offers an interesting water obstacles pool with cargo nets and lily pad walks, perfect for honing your balance and strength.

Staying out of the sun at peak hours is important, which is why we recommend booking a shaded cabana and enjoying the park in a more private way. 

You can also find a full-service snack bar on-site, which will replenish all the energy you lost whilst having fun at the park. 

10. Splash Valley (Roanoke County)

Adjacent to Roanoke County’s Green Ridge Recreation Center, Splash Valley features two slides, children’s playgrounds, and more! Families with both younger and older children will absolutely love this park and everything it offers.

Splash Valley doesn’t offer a variety of slides for all thrill levels. However, it does feature tube and bowl slides, which will be more than enough for a slight adrenaline rush. the only thing you have to do is climb the slide tower and enjoy the thrills which will take you directly into the pool. But bear in mind that these slides are for riders at least 48” tall, which might impede your children to enjoy them. 

This water park also includes a children’s playground with small slides and sprayers, as well as a leisure pool and a current river, which allow you to chill while floating in your tube.

At the Splash Valley, there are different events organized during certain periods of the summer season.  Sometimes it is Fortnite dance night, other days the park just stays open for longer, which enriches an already rich offer of fun activities in the park.

There are plenty of pavilions available for rent online, within different price and capacity ranges. Make sure to visit the park’s official website and book yours prior to the day of your visit. Admission tickets are not included in the rental price, they must be purchased separately.

Bear in mind that outside food and beverage is not allowed to be brought into the waterpark, but do not worry about staying hungry or thirsty. On-site there are several bars and cafes where you can purchase food and refreshments for yourself and your family. 

12. Cobblestone Splash Park (Glen ALlen)

Located in Glen Valley, Cobblestone Park is home to one of the largest concrete swimming pools in Virginia, in addition to different slides for children. These attractions are suitable for all levels of thrill-seekers, which makes it an ideal choice for a family getaway.

Things to know before going to Cobblestone Splash Park

Tickets for this water park have a fixed price for everyone, with children under 32” having free admission to the facility. Also, make sure to buy your ticket on time, since tickets will not be sold after 4 PM. 

Also, bear in mind that park hours depend on weather conditions and are subject to change. That’s why we recommend keeping an eye on the forecast prior to your visit.
