Beach Park at Isla Blanca (formerly Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark) on South Padre Island was ranked the #1 kid-friendly attraction by Texas Family Magazine.

This 15-acre attraction on the Gulf Coast has 11 exciting attractions and 13 water slides in a natural, beachfront environment. The waterpark also features the nation’s largest continuous-wave bodyboarding ride called Surf Rider, a wave pool, five beaches, sand volleyball courts, plus a variety of ride experiences on the Transportainment river system, including four uphill water coasters. If you’re coming during the winter, you’ll get indoor slides, a lazy river, and a heated pool with plenty of other activities around.

This water park was used to known as the Schlitterbahn South Padre Island and was renamed Beach Park at Isla Blanca in 2019. 

Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark (Grand Prairie)

Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark is  80,000-square-foot huge with a retractable roof. It has something for every member of your family.

The WaterPark at The Villages (tyler)

The WaterPark at The Village is a vacation resort. Set on 3,000 acres of fragrant piney woods overlooking Lake Palestine, the WaterPark offers 25,000 square feet of fun for visitors of all ages.

The waterpark, which first opened its doors in January 2008, is located on the grounds of Holiday Inn Club Vacations Villages Resort. This family playground is a prime Texas vacation destination, featuring spacious villas and fun-filled amenities and spanning nearly 3,000 acres among the woods along Lake Palestine.

Kalahari Resort (round Rock)

The Resort Fee is a mandatory daily fee of $39.99 + tax to cover the costs of quality amenities. 

All rooms include: a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, iron, ironing board, in-room safe, complimentary Wi-Fi, remote control television with cable, alarm clock, voice mail system, hairdryer, luxurious bath amenities, and admission to the waterparks.

Kalahari provides towels but if you want something that wraps all the way around you—make sure to bring your own. 

Great Wolf Lodge (Grapevine)

Great Wolf Lodge defies the weather outside. Its indoor water park is made for the young and old to have a blast. With 12 water park locations in the United States and Canada, Great Wolf Lodge is the largest family of indoor water park resorts.

Things to do in Great Wolf Lodge

Given the close proximity of popular landmarks, such as Torian Log Cabin and Grapevine Glockenspiel Clock Tower, you can experience some of Grapevine’s most well-known attractions.

This Water Park has an arcade. Take your family on a MagiQuest to explore the lodge. After that, you can play real bowling, play games and create something adorable at the Build-A-Bear Workshop.

Once you get hungry check out the local lobster favorites at Old Hickory, Winewood Grill, or Bob’s Steak and Chophouse.

Things to know before going to Great Wolf Lodge

The best ages to enjoy the lodge is 7 – 13, but older kids can’t have fun too! There are still plenty of attractions and activities to keep kids of all ages entertained.

Water Rampage (lubbock)

This water park offers water slides, wave pools, and rides for children and adults of all ages. You will find an array of activities no matter if you want to relax or have a wild splash.

This family waterpark has served the local area for 35 years. Lubbock Water Rampage offers a wave pool, kiddie pool, waterslides, and picnic grounds.

The main attractions at Lubbock Water Rampage are the 700-foot Rio Rampage lazy river, Tidal Wave wave pool with four-foot man-made waves, and Twin Twisters, two 400-foot long body slides.

Things to do in The Lubbock

You can make reservations at the park for birthday parties and other fun events. Should you choose to host a party at the park, Snack Shack can provide catering, which makes your event even more fun and stress-free. After-hours reservations are also available for private parties or corporate events, meaning you get the whole park to yourself for two whole hours.

The park features movie nights. When it gets darker, take your family and watch something fun while relaxing in the lazy river.

Things to know before going to The Lubbock

There are picnic areas throughout the park where you can sit and enjoy your meal. Concession stands can also be found within the park for food, drinks, and snacks. Adults can enjoy grown-up beverages at Captain Morgan’s Rum Point.

Things to know before going to Hurricane Harbor Splashtown

For a cozy and relaxing atmosphere out of the sun, there are private poolside cabanas available for rent. For rental options and packages, make sure to follow their official website. 

You can add several add-ons to your 1-day ticket, including the One-Day Dining pass, THE FLASH Pass, a Digital Photo Pass. 

With the dining pass you can eat a limited amount of meals for just one up-front payment. The Flash Pass, on the other hand, allows you to save some time and skip some of the queues. Lastly, if you purchase the Picture Pass you will be able to add unlimited park photos to your account all day and viewing or using them will be completely free of charge. 

Also, we’d like you to know that parking should be pre-purchased before your visit and that cash is not accepted as a method of payment for parking. 

Typhoon Texas (Austin)

Typhoon Texas Austin is a real and proper adrenaline junkie oasis. Not only does it have incredible thrill slides but also it counts with an aerial ropes course and zip lines, attractions that will make your legs shake and make you feel alive.

With a total of 9 waterslide attractions, Typhoon Texas features incredible high-speed and free-fall slides, as well as mat racers and tube slides.

Younger kids and toddlers can enjoy a splash pad with miniature slides and interactive water features, in an appropriate shallow water pool.

For children ages 3 to 12, there is a giant water playground with an 800-gallon water bucket and a 4-story play structure, perfect for running around and playing.

The Typhoon Texas Adventure Park features incredible attractions that will test your bravery and agility! This heart-pumping park consists of a Challenge Course, a three-level ropes course with 15 different rope activities on each level, and a mini zip line. Other attractions include the Cargo Net, Big Island Adventure Trail, Free Fall, Rock Climbing Wall, and Pineapple Express Zip Line Tour. However, if you’d like to try all these activities, make sure to bring dry clothes and appropriate shoes, because otherwise, you will miss out on this wonderful opportunity.

The dining options at the water park include everything you need for a lovely day of family fun. Corn dogs, chicken tenders, pizzas, tacos, ice cream, drinks, ICEEs, you name it, there’s nothing you can’t find at Typhoon Texas!

Things to know before going to Typhoon Texas

Not a fan of spending a day out in the sun? Book one of the cabanas located on-site and your problem will be solved! Three options available for booking include Premier, Plus, and Standard Cabanas, all of which have a capacity of up to 8 people. The Standard Package includes a discounted admission (admission is not included in the price of the package), cabana parking spot, private shaded area, cabana server, and six water bottles. Other packages include some upgrades, so make sure to visit their website and find the option that suits your needs!

 

Splash Kingdom Waterpark (Canton)

The Splash Kingdom not only features thrill and family attractions for visitors of all ages but also it hosts parties with fireworks and concerts on Fridays. All of this combined with good food and rest will result in a memorable family day!

Thrill-seekers will enjoy Splash Kingdom’s mat racer, as well as several tube and body slides. For the most extreme adrenaline rush, try the Pink Panic and the Express. If you decide to try the latter, be aware that it will take you 3 seconds to reach the pool thanks to a vertical drop that will make you shiver.  

 A special attraction we would like to point out is the FlowRider, a surfing simulator perfect to catch your first wave. If you’re a beginner, you can learn the basics, while more advanced riders can learn new tricks or just have some fun!

Things to do in Splash Kingdom Waterpark

At the Splash Kingdom, every week is an opportunity to attend one of the special events taking place there. Among other events, we strongly advise you not to miss Friday Night Live!, with music concerts, DJs, fireworks, and more! 

If your kids tend to get hungry easily, you have two options: you can either purchase the cooler pass or buy food on-site. With the cooler pass, you’re allowed to bring a cooler with food for your picnic. When necessary, you can buy food on-site at the Courtyard Grill, Surfside Pizza, and Sweet Shop, where you can find proper meals, snacks, drinks and desserts. 

Things to know before going to Splash Kingdom Waterpark

Want a small break from the hot summer weather? Book a private cabana with seating for 6 guests, 6 unlimited drink wristbands, a private locker, and cabana service. All cabanas are available on a first-come-first-served basis, but to make sure you secure yours, book them in advance. 

There are several day pass options available for purchase, and you can check them all at their official website. Also, keep in mind that children ages 2 and under have free admission to the Splash Kingdom. 

Hurricane Harbor (Arlington)

Hurricane Harbor Arlington is a good choice for kids, but even a better one for older children and adults! Kids’ attractions are not that numerous, but the thrill rides will totally give you an adrenaline rush and make you feel alive!

At the Hurricane Harbour Arlington, you can find an impressive number of 14 thrill slides. For a maximum thrill, we recommend you try the Banzai Pipeline, a first-of-its-kind water coaster,  and the Der Stuka, a free-fall water slide. 

Family attractions include slides, water playgrounds, and splash zones, perfect for younger and older children. Moreover, your family will most definitely enjoy a relaxing time at the wave pool and lazy river or catch some waves at the surfing simulator.

All these dining options are dispersed throughout the water park so make sure to look at the map and find the one closest to where you are. Whether you’re looking for a full meal or just a snack, you will find both at Hurricane Harbor!

Things to know before going to Hurricane Harbor Arlington

Several add-ons to your 1-day ticket can be purchased, among which are the Digital Photo Pass, One-Day Dining pass, and FLASH Pass.

For long-lasting memories, make sure to purchase the Picture Pass, which allows you to add unlimited park photos to your account all day and view or use them for free later.  With the dining pass, you can eat a limited amount of meals only with one up-front payment. On the other hand, by allowing you to skip some of the queues, the Flash Pass will save you some precious time. 

If you are looking for a more private place to stay out of the sun, book one of the poolside cabanas available at the waterpark. There are different rental options and packages, all of which you can find on their official website.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark (Galveston)

Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston is genuinely a huge family fun oasis. A total of 30 attractions, including slides, play areas, pools and lazy rivers, await for you and your family, so make sure to find out more in the section below!

Schlitterbahn’s 9 top-tier extreme attractions include body, mat and raft slides, uphill water coasters and a surfing simulator. Don’t miss the Screaming Serpents, the Cliffhanger and Rohr!, a vertical -plunge from a 70-foot tall tower. 

This water park counts with several zero entry beaches, wave pools, lazy rivers, and tube slides, so make sure to give them a try. From this “middle” class of attractions, we recommend the Wolfpack and the Loopy Luge, a raft and a tube slide, respectively.

At the Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston, you can dine and shop all you want! Several add-ons are available for purchase, in addition to your 1-day ticket.  If you choose the One-Day Dining Pass, you will be able to eat several meals with just one up-front payment. With the Photo Pass, you can store, view and use either a limited or an unlimited number of pictures taken at the water park attractions. The FLASH Pass, on the other hand, saves you  the time you would usually spend queueing, so think twice before you decide to miss an opportunity to go on more rides during your visit.

Splashway Water Park

Apart from the kid-friendly attractions, the second best thing about Splashway is its location. Just a short drive from 3 major metropolitan cities in Texas, Splashway Waterpark is an ideal pit-stop on your family vacation!

Also, you can challenge your family with the headfirst mat racer and leave the park as a winner.

Kids can really enjoy being kids to the fullest at Splashway! For toddlers, there are two play areas with small slides and shallow water pools. Things to do in Splashway Water Park

Luckily, Splashway is more than just a regular water park. Thanks to its campground, there are additional activities you can enjoy with your family. Children 2 and under are exempt from the variety of ticket packages available for purchase since they have free admission to the waterpark. 

Splashway Texas also offers a campground with cabins, cottages, RV Sites, bunkhouse, and tent sites for your family stay. All guests of the Campground have full access to family-friendly amenities, which include scavenger hunts, laser tag, outdoor games, and more.

Typhoon Texas (Houston)

Typhoon Texas doesn’t need a lengthy introduction: wonderful pools, slides, and play areas. All this, mixed with fun events, refreshing bars, and relaxing cabanas, makes a proper family fun oasis!

At Typhoon Texas Houston, you can enjoy incredible mat racers, tube rides, and both high-speed and free-fall slides, all of these reaching a total of 9 attractions of this sort. 

Children ages 3 to 10 can make use of a massive aquatic playground more than 4 stories tall and with a dumping bucket on top.   They also upgraded this attraction by adding a new splash spad for children ages 2 to 4.

There is also another splash pad for younger kids and toddlers with smaller slides and play features, in a shallow water pool.

Your whole family can enjoy the lazy river, wave pool, and activity pool with a water cargo walkway. 

Things to do in Typhoon Texas

If you’re lucky, your visit will coincide with a special event taking place at Typhoon Texas. These events include music, food, decorations, and activities. Make sure to check their website and see if any event, such as Neon Nights, Luau Day, Salsa Sundays, or others, is concurrent to your visit.

Food is, of course, always present at the water park, not only on special occasions. Visit restaurants like The River Grill, Smoke House BBQ, and Taco Shack for proper meals, or enjoy a cup of coffee or ice cream in Mini Melts, and Ray’s Pizzeria & Italian Ice. 

 

Things to know before going to Typhoon Texas

If you don’t like to leave anything to luck, make sure to book one of the cabanas or loungers located throughout the park before your visit. There are several cabana packages available for purchase, so make sure to find the offer that suits best your needs. In general, cabanas can fit up to 8 people and they include food and beverage service, while the same service isn’t provided if you book loungers for two people.
